Tournament Format
This year ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will take place in three stages.
- The Round One
- The Super 12
- Knock Out
The Round One
Round one consists of two groups. Each group has 4 teams. The top two teams from each group progress to the Super 12 stage.
The number one team from group A and the number second team from group B will enter in super 12 stages. On other hand, the number one team of group B and the number 2 team of group A will enter the super stage.
The Super 12
At this sage 12 teams will equally divided in 2 groups. Top 2 teams from each group will go to the knock out stage.
Knock-out Stage
In this sate two semi-finals matches will play and winner of both semi-final will play the final of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on 13th November 2022.
Points System
In all world cup matches from the round one to the final the point system will remain same as:
Win: 2 points
Loss or Forfeit: 0 points
Tie, no result or abandoned: 1 point
What will happen if there is rain on match day?
Reserve days are scheduled just for the semi-finals and final matches. due to any reason if the match can’t be played on the scheduled day then the match will play on the next reserve day.
If a match starts on the scheduled day and after an interruption the overs are reduced but no further play is possible, the match will resume on the reserve day at the place where the last ball was played.
