Bangladesh has revealed a powerful 15-man squad for their upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, starting on March 22nd in Sylhet. The star of the lineup is the returning Litton Das, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, who missed the New Zealand tour due to paternity leave.

Litton Das Return as a Captain in the Tests

Litton, previously the Test captain, was replaced by Najmul Hossain Shanto who is now the skipper across all formats. This crucial ICC World Test Championship series gives Najmul his first Test leadership challenge.

Litton’s Test career is impressive. After a brief ODI slump, he’s ready to reclaim his spot. In 39 Tests, he boasts 2394 runs at a 36.27 average, including 28 appearances as wicketkeeper.

Nurul Hasan, Litton’s replacement against New Zealand, is absent from this squad. Two promising pacers, Nahid Rana and Mushfik Hasan, get their chance to shine. Sadly, Ebadot Hossain remains sidelined by a knee injury.

“Rana is an electrifying talent – Bangladesh’s fastest bowler with the ability to get serious bounce,” commented selection panel member Abdur Razzak. “His first-class numbers back it up. Young Mushfik Hasan joins the squad too. It’s the perfect time for them to gain experience while Ebadot and Taskin [Ahmed] recover.”

The Test series kicks off in Sylhet on March 22nd, moving to Chattogram on March 30th.
