David Miller marked his Nepal Premier League debut with a stunning unbeaten 93, but it was not enough to save Karnali Yaks from a 39-run defeat against Sudurpaschim Royals in Kirtipur on Friday.

Royals post 176 after being put in

Karnali won the toss and chose to field, but the Royals posted 176 for 6 in their 20 overs. Saif Zaib top-scored with 35 off 24 balls, while Binod Bhandari added 27 off 22. Mark Watt was the pick of the Karnali bowlers with 2 for 27.

Miller's lone fight in the chase

Chasing 177, Karnali's innings became a one-man show. Miller carried the chase almost single-handedly, finishing unbeaten on 93 off 55 balls with five fours and seven sixes — including 25 runs in the final over, with four sixes. But no other Karnali batter passed 18, Deepak Dumre's 18 being the next best, and the Yaks closed on 137 for 7.

Player of the Match in a losing cause

Despite finishing on the losing side, Miller was named Player of the Match for his lone masterclass. The win gave the Royals two points, while Karnali left Kirtipur empty-handed.
