The Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their winning streak at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, claiming a dominant seven-wicket victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 12 of the TATA IPL 2024.
A stellar bowling performance and a calculated chase propelled GT to their second triumph of the season.
Gujrat Titans Winning Streak
Under a blazing sun, SRH captain Pat Cummins elected to test the Gujarat Titans’ bowlers after winning the toss. Despite their recent record-breaking batting display, SRH took a more measured approach in the powerplay this time around.
Travis Head maintained his aggression, but Mayank Agarwal fell cheaply to Azmatullah Omarzai in the fifth over. Abhishek Sharma briefly ignited the innings, smashing two sixes off Rashid Khan to close out the powerplay.
However, the Gujarat Titans v Sunrisers Hyderabad match saw GT consistently chip away at the SRH lineup. Head departed for 19, and though several SRH batters made starts, none could break the 30-run mark.
Abdul Samad and Shahbaz Ahmed provided late resistance, but Mohit Sharma’s lethal 3-25 in four overs, including vital back-to-back wickets, restricted SRH to a modest 162.

Chasing 163, GT blazed out of the gates with Wriddhiman Saha’s signature power-hitting. Shahbaz made an early breakthrough for SRH, dismissing Saha, but Sai Sudharsan (brought in as an Impact Player) and Shubman Gill maintained a comfortable pace.
Gill found his rhythm, effortlessly dispatching Shahbaz over long-off for a massive six. Sudharsan also impressed with confident strokeplay.
Gill’s wicket to Mayank Markande briefly shifted momentum, but seasoned veteran David Miller stepped in at No.4. Miller and Sudharsan took a calculated approach, rotating the strike to keep the chase within reach.
With 49 needed off the final five overs, the Gujarat Titans v Sunrisers Hyderabad match turned decisively. Miller, despite an apparent injury, unleashed his power against Markande, blasting two towering sixes in the 16th over. Sudarshan followed suit, but fell shortly after for a hard-fought 45.
Vijay Shankar joined Miller and the pair calmly saw GT over the line, with Miller’s final six sealing the win with five balls to spare. Miller’s unbeaten 44 proved the linchpin of the Gujarat Titans’ victory.
This dominant performance further solidifies the Gujarat Titans’ impressive record in the IPL. Their bowlers’ ability to stifle opposition lineups and their calculated batting strategy make them a formidable force in the tournament.
