“I think South Africa deserved the win and yes, thanks to the batsmen too. We had good partnerships down the middle too.

“There are positives that we can take into the next game. especially batting where we’ve built these partnerships. We look forward to our next game against Bangladesh and will try to win every game left in the tournament.”

Monday’s opponents Bangladesh had to wait a week between games. After two early defeats by South Africa and New Zealand.

The Tigers will be looking for a positive performance. After going winless since arriving in New Zealand. And also losing their two pre-tournament warm-up games.

One of those warm-up defeats came against Pakistan. Where Nigar Sultana’s side clinched defeat from the jaws of victory. With a weak batting side struggling, particularly against young right-arm Fatima Sana.

Who is the key player in this match?

Nashra Sundhu (Paksitan): The slow left-hander is Pakistan’s most reliable ball player. Her impressive average of over 28 at international ODI level is testament to that. Sundhu is certainly used in the middle overs of an innings to try to stifle opposing teams’ run rate.

Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh): Much is expected of the Bangladesh captain with the bat and behind the stumps. And it will come as no surprise that the 24-year-old will be the star of the tournament. Sultana has already achieved an international century in 50-over cricket.
