England Women’s Squad For Ashes T20I Series

The Women’s Ashes 2023 is an exciting series that includes multiple formats, consisting of a standalone Test match, three T20Is, and three ODIs. In terms of points, the Test holds significant value, offering four points to the victorious team, while each T20I and ODI carries two points.

Test Match

In the recent Test match held at Nottingham, Australia emerged victorious, securing an impressive 89-run victory over their opponents. This win gives them an early advantage in the series as they strive to claim the coveted Women’s Ashes title.

Danielle Gibson

In a recent development, Danielle Gibson, who recently made her debut in the Women’s Ashes Test, has received another call-up, this time for the T20I side. Gibson has been in sensational form, emerging as the leading wicket-taker for Western Storm in the ongoing Charlotte Edwards Cup. Notably, she was also named as a traveling reserve for the England squad during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup held in South Africa earlier this year.

Joining Gibson in the squad are several other players who showcased their skills on the global stage. Prominent names include Alice Capsey, Maia Bouchier, Freya Davies, Charlie Dean, Sarah Glenn, and Lauren Winfield-Hill.

The team is further bolstered by the inclusion of pacer Issy Wong, who missed out on England’s T20 World Cup campaign but now has the opportunity to make her mark.

England Women’s Coach

Looking ahead to the T20I series, England Women’s coach Jon Lewis expressed his enthusiasm for having a talented pool of players at his disposal.

“We have a number of players who have performed exceptionally well for England A in their short format fixtures, and it’s fantastic to have them back with us,” Lewis stated.

“Danielle Gibson has earned her place in our IT20 squad for the first time. Her outstanding form at the regional level indicates her potential to make a significant impact whenever she takes the field.

Issy Wong

“Issy Wong returns to the T20 squad following her successful stint in the Women’s Premier League with the Mumbai Indians. It will be thrilling to witness her growth and progress resulting from those experiences. We eagerly anticipate these three matches and aim to deliver an entertaining spectacle for everyone to enjoy.”
