Pakistan Gears Up for T20 World Cup 2024. The journey begins with a crucial home series against New Zealand. Skipper Babar Azam, leading his nation in the tournament for a third time, expressed unwavering confidence ahead of the challenge.

“We’re taking our T20 World Cup preparations very seriously,” stated Babar Azam. “This five-match series against New Zealand is key to getting us ready. With 12 matches before the tournament, we have ample opportunity to fine-tune our game.”

The captain hinted at a largely unchanged squad for the World Cup, yet emphasized that performance will be the ultimate deciding factor. Pakistan will also lock horns with Ireland and England before embarking on their World Cup campaign.

“We’re focused on New Zealand right now, but the World Cup squad will likely be similar,” Azam remarked. “However, nothing is guaranteed. We’ll ensure the absolute best team represents Pakistan.”

Azam praised the team’s balance of experienced players and fresh talent. “It’s always exciting to see deserving players break into the national team,” he said. “We’ll guide them through the challenges of international cricket; having senior players for support boosts confidence.”

Remaining coy about his batting position, Azam did not rule out a return to the opening spot for the New Zealand series.

Meanwhile, New Zealand stand-in captain Michael Bracewell remains upbeat despite missing key players. “Last year’s series proved we can push Pakistan hard,” he said. “This tour offers a fresh challenge, and we’re excited to adapt quickly to the conditions.”

The thrilling five-match series commences in Rawalpindi on April 18th.
